I am finally back to being able to handle coding pages and building websites again after a couple of very trying years emotionally. I can see some things have changed, and others have not. I have some questions, naturally, and hope y'all can guide me here just a bit.
I just did my very first "hybrid" website - 2 gallery pages of 12 pics each plus 1 page of 4 .wmv files. (nice to have a broadband connection!). Did I do well? Would you link to this from your linklists? As a surfer, would you click through to the target website? Here's the newest site -
Pussy Shavin' I am pretty happy with it, and will start submitting it to the link lists when I get home from work tomorrow. (That's why there is an empty space on the index page!) I was always told 6 max -- I see 12 and 15 links to LLs all over the place. What's the preference now?
When I was out checking other sites in the same genre, I noticed quite a few were very difficult to navigate. I could barely find the gallery links among the advertising. Also, quite a few of the links I checked were nothing more than links straight to FHGs. I guess I should mention these were all off of Link-o-Rama. Is this the latest trend? Am I so wrong in doing clean websites that are not so full of advertising? What happened to clear-cut links? Two of the sites I visited had no exit link. When did this start?
How useful are the FHGs if nobody accepts them? I mean, they are a nice thing to toss into a webpage as a teaser for a focused click, but.. I have tried hard to hold onto the 3 links out of the website total including back to my umbrella domain.
Yeah, I know.. a lot of questions. But, as I have just started submitting my newer sites I wanted to be sure I was on the right track and was building something currently acceptable. Payback to all of you LL owners is you know how loyal and honest I am, and you know I don't cheat, ever. Are there those among you that would welcome my efforts on a regular basis?
Thank you all for your kindness and consideration!
