Where it really gets scary is the great folk in charge here in Texas decided that a "man's castle" extends to his vehicle. Now out here in the country, that isn't so bad because kids are taught to properly handle firearms when they are old enough. But in the city?? Puts a new wrinkle into road rage.
The thieves are the ones who chose to break into the property, they are the ones who chose to break the law. There is a very good wrap-up of this particular case on
the Houston Examiner's website. Texas law does allow us to protect our property, especially if we feel we are in danger. It also allows us to protect our neighbors. Now, it allows us to carry weapons in vehicles.
Do I like these laws? Not necessarily. But... if you intend to trespass or break into someone's home, don't do it in Texas. Take your criminal ways elsewhere, please.
