In the last 20 years I've been involved with 5 companies that had to lay people off and not once have I ever met an "Evil HR Director". No one had any evil intentions, there was not a desire to hurt anyone and making tough business descisions often causes a great deal of pain.
If it was a business descision, not a personal one and no one actually had evil intentions then how should they present it?
