I personally don't ask for category recips because as a fairly new LL owner, I understand how hard it is to get quality submitters. You may get better SE traffic with category recips but what good is it going to do you if you can't get anyone to submit their sites. Without sites, you will definately fail. You can always ask for them later if you feel you are getting enough quality traffic to warrant it. Just my $.02
