I've been jerking my meat for almost 12 hours now, I ate some a few minutes ago and since it was still kinda juicy I added another hour to my jerking time, hopefully we will get in a hike this week and have some nice jerky for it.
We watched a Ken Burns documentary on “Lewis and Clark” last night which was really well done and it even talked about the "sharing of women" in some Indian villages as well as the STD's most of them got that was treated with mercury shots.
Burns really focused well on the mental stress of the trip and made the point of what it must have been like to travel for almost a year with the thought of spending a "few days at most" of cutting through the Rocky Mountains and what it was like to have been kicked in the balls when they all realized it would take much much longer than a few days to pass though them.
All I could think of was “DOH!” echoing throughout the Rocky Mountains…
