Yes correct, You are backed 100% by the United States of America to have that right to bare arms. Be it for self protection or for work or just your rights.

Yes we do have the right to
BARE arms
Quote:
Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

I see how our "militia" has grown. If we were to take this Literally, our "militia" would be here, securing our free state.
as far as bearing arms goes...there have been a few things in our constitution or left out of our constitution that not everyone might agree with. I mean this is a country that had to have an amendment to give women and anyone other than white males the right to vote. AND a constitutional amendment giving those who live in Washington DC the right to vote. i mean WTF??
dc amendment
In my opinion, i have no issue if someone wants to own a gun, smoke crack, throw knives, build nukes, as long as it doesn't effect me.
But where i have an issue, just as i do with fundamentalist who pick out parts of their bible, koran, or whatever 'roadmap' they choose to follow and use those parts...Likewise there are some who embrace the portions they want to apply to them and ignor the ones they don't.
Example: it's ok to have a gun but we need to leave "under god" in the pledge of alligence.
Quote:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

To those who'd like to use Columbine as an example: Who is going to hold the school administration and the other students accountable as well? Did they not contribute to what happened just as much as those who pulled the trigger? Those boys were harassed daily by their peers, made fun of, laughed at, ignored, stripped of the dignity in their youth where it is so important to have self esteem, yet the administration stood by and did nothing to prevent the other students hurling words of hurt. While words cannot kill and quite frankly there is no justification for the act itself, words can leave life long wounds that follow us through out our lives.
Gosh, i didn't mean to get up on my soapbox..
