I was wondering how many of you have taken web design classes, or have a degree in information technology? Do you feel that it has helped you succeed?

In my former life I was a professional accountant then I went back to school and took web programming (not design) -- a 6 course diploma from a community college. I have no regrets.
I think there are two advantages (for me) to doing that. One, I learned things that otherwise I would be too lazy to tackle (i.e. PHP, javascript). Two, when working with mainstream clients it gives me more credibility because people like to see credentials.
