I don’t see many tech postings in the “Adult Help Wanted” forum. Considering how many people are looking for work I am wondering why? I am an experienced software developer with a background in web development including HTML, JavaScript, Perl, MySQL/databases and UNIX/Linux with some PHP, Java, and CSS.
I am interested in working in this industry for two basic reasons. I am somewhat homebound and I like the kind of community support I have seen here. Do people looking for programmers in this business look for resumes the same way as in any other business? If people don't typically use "Adult Help Wanted" to look for work in my area where might they best look?
I also don’t see many postings to the “Programming & Scripting” forum and wonder why.
To give some idea of my tech background I am including a short sample "japh" Perl script and links to two of my first attempts at free sites, neither of which attracts much traffic. I view my Perl/SQL/Linux skills as stronger than my front end skills. I am also writing this posting with more of any eye towards understanding the market than trying to advertise myself.
Code:
$ perl -w -Mstrict -e 'sub { print join(q/ /, map { $_[0]->{ $_ } } qw/J A P H/), $/ }->( {map { reverse /((.).*)/ } qw/Just Another Perl Hacker/})'

Thanks
PS I posted a similar message on another bulletin board site and apologize to anyone put through the drudgery of reading through both postings, but I didn’t seem to get an answer there and was hoping for one here.
