You ever heard of Frank Perdue? Perdue Chickens is based in Salisbury, MD on the Eastern Shore where they raise lots of chickens are grow lots of feed. Guess how used to do PC maintenance and installed Perdue's first Local Area Networks.
I went on a service call to one of the feed plants and that meant I brought a little vacuum cleaner with me because the PCs would fill up with grain dust. This particular PC wouldn’t take floppy disks any more. You might remember the full height 5 ¼ inch floppy drives on IBM PCs. Every time we tried to insert a floppy it would start to squeak and you could only get the thing about half way in. After I took the cover off and started to vacuum the thing out, a small mouse ran out of the floppy drive.
It become standard practice to use the tape backup and keep the floppy drive closed with duct tape.
