I assume like most cities the airport is actually way too far for accomadations. The Omni itself is sold out. So basically anything downtown would be fine but outside of downtown would be no good?

There are a few still available with reasonable prices. If you go through Expedia, do a search for Chicago. Then where it says "Show hotels > Chicago ( and vicinity )" (above the results) choose "Loop".
We're staying at the Hotel Allegro. $178 for Friday, $199 for saturday.
Other some what reasonable rates are:
Club Quarters - $180/night
Hyatt on Printers Row
$199/night
Hilton Chicago
$199/Friday $259/Saturday
Congress Plaza Hotel
$140/night
All of those are about 10-12 minute cab ride from the Omni. (Traffic permitting.)
Anything closer to the Gold Coast (North) and the rates go up to the low $300's or higher.
