Well, I figure the "we got your IP" notice is part of an anti fraud system. I suppose it could be a programmers artifact, but I think it's there intentionally.

Nothings really free after a signup you know. They may not be charged now, but the goal is to upgrade them and charge them later.

Certainly in real paysites, not the 'freemium' areas in the tubes or other free gimmick sites, battling CC fraud is a major concern, and the IP notice is intended to scare off stolen CC bangers.

But, freemium is a sales tactic, so I would say the IP reveal on the form is completely intentional.

The goal is to get into the freemium area a real adult with a real CC who has a real chance of being upgraded. To keep the kids and the theives out - why give a kid or a theif freemium access? There's no possible benefit.
