I looked into using e-gold as a savings account a while back and the only thing I don't like is that they charge a 1% of your total account fee for using the service every month. That was way too high for me.

If you want to use it strictly to send money or for lower dollar ammounts or for less than a month I guess it would be ok. They've got some great features as far as the idea of ecurrency goes, but in general that 1% fee was a major drawback for me.
