Scales are evil - avoid them.
The only time I ever step on a set of scales is when at the doctor's. He usually tells me what I weigh, but he tells me in kilogrammes, and I still work in pounds/stones. So provided I don't do the conversion (and I don't) I manage to continue to not know my own weight - which is how I like it. That way I don't worry, and don't have to do something even more evil, like go on a diet.
All I know about it is that I am "Fat", and I don't have a problem with that.
About 15 years ago a nurse weighed me, measured my height, and consulted a BMI table. From this she told me that I was "overweight but not obese". Over the years my waistline has gone up and down a bit, but is roughly the same, so I'll stick to that diagnosis, and be satisfied with that.
But step on a set of scales, and read the results myself? NEVER! I'll leave that kind of self punishment to supermodels, masochists, and weirdos!
