I've never used a cloud host for anything adult, and cant say I know anybody else who has.
on a mainstream project last year the use on a shared account was too high for a while and they were pushing me to buy cloud hosting. the concept seemed fine, but I solved the problem with caching instead. I like cacheing.
as I recall, cloud hosting would have been about $30 a month.

after having been on 8-9 different hosts over the years, I can now only laud one, and that is colo-cation. it's a moderately specialized hosting company, the control panel does not have all teh bells and whistles one gets from civilian hosting, but Chris is a fucking genius, the best I have ever known.
but, nobody knows you man - so I can't say to Chris, "take care of this guy, he's cool".
