Doesn't matter what we think is true. The only thing that matters is that they are doing it.
It's only a violation of privacy if they agree not to do it and then do it anyway. That's not the case, and if you read some of the results on that first link I posted above you'll see that they're actively defending their right to read your mail. Bottom line is that it's a free service and you're free not to use it, so they can do whatever they want as long as they don't first promise you that they won't do it.
In any event, you're free to use them to discuss link selling if you want. Just be aware that there are many smart link buyers who will never respond to someone who offers to do business using a Gmail address. They know that probably too much incriminating information has already been shared with the Big G.
But you should do what you
think is best.
