I haven't camped for decades. About four years ago a national paper did an offer, collect the tokens and you can book into one of several camp sites for £1 (~$1.50) per night. I collected the tokens and was about to buy camping gear when I thought "Hold on, I'm older now and can afford a hotel. I don't think I want to camp."
A few months later, near the end of summer, I was visiting my dad, and we missed a turning on a road where you could not safely do a U turn. So we drove into a campsite to turn round. I looked across the tents and really regretted my decision.
Every year since, I have told myself that this year I'll get some cheap camping equipment and go away for a week, or a few weekends. But I never do.
I'm thinking it now. "This Summer I must go camping."
But if this topic comes up again in the Fall, I'll almost certainly post that I didn't get round to it. And as my health is getting worse, this may be the last year I am fit enough to camp.
