Not a good hospital visit on Monday. For a start the doctor was very short, which is not normally a problem. But it was eye surgery, so we had to sit at eye level with each other - which meant I was practically sitting on the floor with my knees under my chin, not comfortable.
Secondly he was new at this procedure. Again, not normally a problem provided he was well trained. But he kept having to stop and run to a more senior doctor, which did not give me a lot of faith in him (and as the possible side effects, if things go wrong, include blindness, I was none too keen on an amateur doctor burning my eyeballs out).
In the end he let the senior doctor finish the job. And she too had a problem: The operation was basically to burn out some of the veins in my eyes that were bursting and bleeding into my eyeball. Unfortunately there was too much blood already there for them to see clearly what they were doing, so they did as much as they could, and are hoping that is enough to clear it up sufficiently for them to have another go next month.
I really, really, hate this operation, and I thought this would be the last time I would need it. Looks like I was wrong.
And the worse part: I overheard the two doctors discussing future treatment, and talking about giving me injections
into my eyeball.
Ugg urrr ug!!!!
