Vappu (May Day) is finally behind us. It's usually huge because it is the very first party of the year and the everyone wear their school caps. (You get these when you graduate from the very competitve academic high schools.) They wash and give one of the statues in Helsinki her own cap - custom made. For a lot of kids, they are nursing nasty hangovers. Our weather turned very cold again with rain, sleet, and snow. It is actually almost traditional that the weather be so unsettled. We did not get any snow at all!!
From Sunday's English news - pictures and more info about our May Day.
The Husband went to visit his parents, while I tried to work. I hate being old. I can't remember what I did! Apparently not much, though, as I had no galleries finished and had to scramble this morning. And speaking of being old, it's been a rough week on old singers. We lost both Harry Belafonte and Gordon Lightfoot in the last week. Sounds square (and it is), but I saw both numerous times growing up. I loved going to their shows at the Greek Theater in LA. Something neat about that place and the tree people....
Guess I had better try to get things going again here... I seemed to have lost a day.
