Please forgive a maybe ignorant question, but what exactly do you mean by a "console"?

A banner, half page graphics or?

So from this discussion, I assume that Yahoo and perhaps other punish someone for putting a console on their index page, why?

What the heck is the logic of that? I mean in this multimedia age! Do they want us to go back to the stoneage?
