I'm pretty new too. I think it's a big advantage to take the time and effort to read this message board and skim a few others once in a while.
If someone does a naughty thing it will spread like wild fire across the adult webmaster boards.
The sites you mentioned dont need to prove themselves. Many have been online since '95-'97. You and I are the ones who need to prove ourselves.
In fact, many of the owners of those sites will help out an average free site builder here on the board.
