Why? - Simple - there has been one big change to Google aside from the filters and algos that are being applied right now - and that is Google now has share holders. Share holders like to see the value of their stock rise every quarter - Google has to increase it's revenue to keep these shareholders happy - giving away free traffic to us makes their share holders NOTHING! - The ads on the right do! See where I'm coming from on this? Take a look at this below in the screen cap - The name of my site is being used (mondoerotica) to pull ads - this started today! Will they be using the names of your sites to pull ads in the future - if they can get away with it, you better believe it boy and girls!

Here is the screen cap!
Not sure if that is the full reason behind changes in last 2 updates as yet... but what you say is pretty logical and that stuff should really be expected from any public company as they focus on maximising shareholder profit.

http://www.mondoerotica.net/mondo-google.html <-- I bet a lot of people have addressed this issue with google over time.. I'm not really sure of right way to go... but if you don't like it, I think you need to tell Google that or you will lose your right to complain later by ignoring it now.

I had heard Girls Gine Wild people had tried to stop google showing ads for that result phrase.. (might be a rumour though)
http://www.google.com/search?safe=off&q=girls+gone+wild

there is only 1 ad there I see now... but it appears they didn't manage to convince Google not to sell ads.
