Sounds like one of those Apple Macintosh or handheld type files to me, and do Mac files use extensions?

Not sure what system you have or what you are trying to do, but try renaming the file with an extension to the image files (jpg, gif, tif). Windows explorer should show the files once they have the right extension.

Or if that doesn't work try a hex editor.
