Hosting is cheap I recomend http://cyberwurx.com they have a plan for like $10 a month then you need a domain name.
I also recomend you set aside an hour on Saturdays for On the bench with Mr. MaryLou you will get to know some successfull webmasters and discover what is and isn't working for them
