it's kind of hard to put in prospective really.. and it may be because when i was 13 in the late 60's we were less informed...and Free Love was everywhere..

but i lost my virginity at age 14 to the youth director of my father's church.. in the sanctuary.. and did i think HE was a pervert at the time..nope.. and quite frankly in my goodhead i know it was wrong, since i was informationless but i never gave it a 2nd thought that he was 28 and i was 14.

Likewise, my husband lost his virginity at age 11 to his former babysitter who was 19 at the time, my ex lost his at 9 to a 21 yr old woman, and all my very closest friends started their active sex lives on or around age 13-16..

How old were you when you lost yours? and was it to some one older or younger??

It's all about pro-active parenting and how much your children feel, even as horrible teenagers, that they can trust you won't reject their attempts to get information from you.

Does it scare me knowing my son is 13 yrs old, chats on the net, and is probably better informed that i was even at age 21?? Hell yeah.. but do i have open and frank conversations with him about what is and what isn't acceptable?? Would i kick someones ass if they fucked with him against his consent?? HELL yes!! Do i trust my relationship with him and the open dialogue we have?? YES.

My 3 daughters were 18, 19 and 17 when they finally gave it up, but not before they were as informed as they could be on love, repect for themselves and their bodies, birth control, STDs, AIDS and how to kick someone's ass if they made unwanted advances.

This is not to say there aren't some sick fucks out there, but if parents know what their children are doing, who their friends are, and have these very frank conversations on sex, drugs, smoking whatever the issue du jour is, there would be a lot less opportunities for them.
