My stats make me happy when I'm making money; miserable when I'm not. It's a catch 22!
I've finally reached a point where I check stats once a day; grab the report and record any sales to a spread sheet. Takes about ten minutes, max. I get happy when I get email reports about sales, but I no longer immediately go off to check on the who/what/when/where/why. It's taken a LONG time to reach this point, but I think I'm more productive now.
These days I'm much more inclined to waste time - er, spend time - checking my internal stats. That at least puts things in my hands, to a degree.
