I wrote about this in my blog yesterday. Here's part of what I wrote:
This is seriously flawed thinking. The fact is that a vast number of people from all walks of life use porn, to the extent that it is extremely difficult to create a profile of a "typical porn user." The fact is that middle-aged creepy guys in raincoats make up a very small minority of porn users.
According to the latest Durex survey around 50% of people use porn to enhance their sex lives. More than half of all porn videos are rented by ordinary married couples. According to Nielsen Netratings, 30% of all porn surfers are women.
This action seeks to suggest that every porn user is some kind of criminal, or that using porn will automatically lead to a life of depravation or crime.
I'd like to see these police document if they find any bibles or dictionaries at crime scenes. "Yep, there's no doubt about it, this man's compulsive use of a thesaurus led him to rob banks... and to demand money in a characteristically verbose way."
