I agree that simplicity can still sell. From a link list owner's point of view, it's still nice to see attractive sites.
Have you been to a grocery store lately? The National Enquirer and The Star are on the same rack as Entertainment Weekly and TV Guide. Tabloid and glossy complement one another. I doubt either would sell as well without its complement nearby.
If you're suggesting I should single-handedly fill the void, I thank you for your vote of confidence. My free sites are quite lovely, I think. Some sell, some don't. I'm still trying to work out why some work and some don't. I'll be working on that for as long as I build. Consumer tastes change.
