We have 11 paysites, each with a seperate member area. Last year I had my programmer write a back end, as it was becoming impossible to update each site manually several times each week. About 1/2 are switched over, and we're slowly converting the others to work with the scripts. (I HATE grunt work)
Having something created just for you is often less expensive than some of the boxed solutions, and it is specific to your needs :-)
