Just an idea I had...

I wonder if people would be interested in this idea I had a while ago...

Basically, you sign up to a link exchange service. You tell the service what kind of site you have and what kind of sites you want linking back to you. The service, through some sort of algorithm, figures out the best "link trades" and sends everybody in the database an email telling them which sites to link to along with a list of which sites will link to them. The service would check for cheaters and simply eliminate them from the database so that when the next round of emails are sent out (say, once per month), that person's links won't be included.

The advantage to this is that everybody could get ABC links with relative ease... and it would take a lot of the hassle out of getting people to link to you. In fact, it would be automatic. You're only responsibility would be to check your emails and follow the linking instructions inside.

Any thoughts?

Some webmasters will only link to people who they know, and with whom they deal directly, so they won't be interested in linking to sites selected by some sort of algorithm. But your idea may have a following among those who do things a different way. In fact it's similar to other services tried before and some operating now.

One thing you may want to consider is the actual value of an incoming link. Just getting a lot of links from others, even if they're verified to not be cheaters, isn't really some magical key to success.

So I wish you luck with your idea, but I did want to caution you that the sites you (and your users) would really want in your service are very unlikely to sign up.
