Host problems, need host advice

I am running what I think is a low traffic site. Average 100 members and my site counter says I get about 600 hits a day. I have pictures and videos, maybe between 10-15GB of material.

I have a shared server plan and my host is telling me that i am using high resources not allowed on a shared, about 30% CPU usage and wants me to bring it down to 20%. I have taken down about 40% of the site and still no progress. The host has been shutting my members section down and just recently suspended my account and telling me if it happens again it will permanently suspend my account.

Not sure if I should mention the host's name but I have a shared server and pay $7 a month for what is suppose to be unlimited storage and bandwidth. I never thought about there being a limit on cpu usage.

They recommend I get a dedicated server from them and quoted me at about $500 a month, that's about half my profit and not about to do that.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks

man, you get what you pay for when it comes to hosts...
but 500 a month for that low amount of surfers is robbery!
i use m3server.com and that's like a an under 50 bucks a month plan with tons to spare..

one thing to check on is to make sure you arn't getting your members area hotlinked to death and back..especially if its movies they are stealing from you...that could be your missing problem there...so check on that, and get a real host...one that will move you to them for free, set you up, and take care of you..and at a reasonable rate...

btra fan,

I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about moving to a new host and what m3server.com can offer you. There are VPS dedicated servers and dedicated servers to consider. You definately can't go from $7.00 a month bill to $500.00. You also want a hosting company that will grow with you as your site or sites grow. Not one that just shuts off areas of your site without warning and costing you money and visitors. We have been doing this since 1996. Please consider m3server.com and lets see what can be worked out.

Thanks and best of luck

Chris

I am using Phatservers.com (among others) - and would recommend hitting them up and asking for a custom quote, theyre good on support and quite flexible.
