This video card ok for gameplay?
I ordered my daughter a laptop for christmas and the specs and delivery date came in the post today. When I ordered it I thought it was 128 mb vid card. Looking at the specs it's only 64 MB share video memory (128 bit, so I misread it when i bought it online).
Is that fast enough for conventional games or do you reckon I need to cancel and re-order for a 128MB model? Here are some other specs: Pentium 4 - 3.2GHz with Hyper Threading 1024Mb PC3200 DDR (400MHz) Integrated 128-bit, 64Mb shared video memory AGP 4x What do you think? I'd hate for her to get it and for her games to run like dog shit. ![]() |

64 meg can handle most games out there. some do require more,
But thats more of a resolution thingie,I've stared at a laptop screen for the past two weeks and man I am glad to be back on my pc with a 19inch monitor. |

OK that reasures me. I don't play games so i have no idea. I used to play a LOAD of business simulation games (erm railroad tycoon, god can't remember the rest), but now I much prefer real-life online business.

No offence Apu, but when they were handing out religions you must have been out taking a whizz

It would work ok, but 128 is really the norm now. If you didn't have the decent processor and ram most new stuff will look like crap as onboard video is bad bad bad, but all depends what sort of games. 3d games will not be very good as the frame rate will be low and it will need to run at a low resolution, stuff like railroad tycoon should be no problem at all.

That looks better and you can always upgrade with an extra 512 ram if needed in the future. Also I'd reccomend getting a standard mouse and keyboard to plug in as those touchpads are hard to use with games.

You can now put whatever you want in this space :)

I would upgrade. I have 256 MB GF4 5700 and I need to upgrade(presently beta testing JO Escalation). I wouldn't recommend a laptop for playing games though.
This is the kind of action typical from games nowadays: Paste this in WMP http://www.gamespot.com/live/stream_...stream=&first= Last edited by GunnCat; 2004-10-22 at 09:43 AM.. |
