Silly free site question

What's the point of buying content and creating freesites out of them?

Isn't the whole point of free sites, like TGP galleries, is to use the sponsor content to show the quality and what the site offers, ie. a preview with a link to the site with your ref code if the person wants more?

If you use bought content, you have no site to promote.

The point of brought content is so that the surfer doesn't see the same used content over and over again. If surfers saw the same thing everytime they went to a site they wouldnt want visit that site anymore let alone purchase access to the members area of the site you are trying to promote.

You have to understand that the content that sponsors give out are being used by thousands of webmasters on more than one site. Its worth the investment to be unique because your site will have girls that the surfers have never seen before, which might entice the long time surfer to buy.

The added advantage to brought content with link list or tgps is that you are more likely to get accepted than with sponsor content.

As for using brought content for promoting sponsors you are allowed to do this because it falls under the same niche. For example you could say something like "see more pictures like these at blah.com".

Hope this explains why most link list sites prefer brought content to sponsor content.

buying new content and using them to the free sites you build will help you get more sales..because some of the surfers want to see unique and fresh content all the time.

Plus, if you're in the US and you're buying your content from the right places you can comply with 2257. I won't touch sponsor content with a 10 foot pole right now because it's unreasonable to expect a sponsor to give out IDs and Model Releases, but I won't allow that to stop me from building sites. I get good sets of 2257 compliant content for $5-$10 per set, and I end up being able to build a couple sites out of every set I buy over time. The investment is worth it to me, because among other things I'm building up a catalog of licensed content that I can use for anything I want to.

Wow, that's cheap. Thought it was $50 per set. Maybe I should look deeper.

What are the chances that someone else has already bought the specific content and used it and hence I'll get refused by link lists?

I've never been declined because of purchased content. Bear in mind that when link list owners say content has been "over used" its been submitted to them dozens of times, not just a couple. IMO you should never spend more than $10 on a set of content for freesites, and you can get mega deals from people like Paul Markham ( www.bargainbasementcontent.com ) that include up to 1700 pics for $50, with proper documentation. It's out there...just make sure you're getting a good deal on good content, and not a good price because it's shitty content. Paul sells good stuff, as does www.ounique.com and www.midnightdigital.com ...all 3 give proper documentation, but remember it's still your responsibility to keep your records organized. |rasta|

The chances are alot smaller than using free sponsor content that everyone gets for free. Like you most new webmasters try not to buy new content. So I dont think you would have to worry much about the brought content if you mix and match sets up. The best thing to do imo is to shop around at different places and dont just by in one spot.

I've been using mostly sponsor content, not because I'm too cheap to buy, but because I've been a little timid about matching content with sponsor. With sponsor content at least you know it's a match.

A while ago I actually bought one of those super duper megapacks 17 CDs/100,000 pictures or so, and from a random, but thorough sampling it looks like at least 90,000 of them are truly crap.

Considering the recent discussions here on sponsor content some of you will get acquainted with this content tomorrow (I managed to dig up a few good sets). Just a headsup.
