Question to Link Lists owners

Hey guys

A sponsor decided to close my account, told me it wasnt profitable.

I havent send them anything else but traffic coming from linklists, so I dont know why it turned out this way.

Anyway, I have been using a redirect file so I can simply redirect the traffic elsewhere

Is it cool with you if the banners and links say they are going to one site but then they end up at some other (a similar site)

Regards

maybe I wasnt clear what the question was:

I've some freesites out there promoting them. So is it cool if I leave the text and banners as it is, but simply redirect the traffic elsewhere, since they dont pay me anymore.

Regards

Not OK with me...I know it's a pain, but you should really change the ads. Surfers click on an ad for x.com and end up at y.com they won't buy anyway.

It's not OK. When the sponsor finds out about it, your host will get a DMCA complaint. You are using their material to promote someone else.

yeah.. seems like its not a good changing the redirect file then.

both of a ll's point of view and plus that the sponsor probably dislikes if there banners leads elsewhere, didnt think of that at first.

Guess I have to change them or focus on building new sites.

Feels kinda bad leaving them there promoting a sponsor who cut me off and probably wont pay my earned money I had at the account.

But shit happens I guess

thanx for the replys

Regards

Interesting thread...thanks for bringing it up Rick69

As a possible work around...

How about re-directing to an FPA stating that you no longer offer that particular site, but have this awesome site instead? The surfer is not mis-led...and you provide a filter link to your hub at the bottom of the ad.

Swedguy...your point is very well taken. And I know this doesn't apply in Rick69's case...but what about when a specific sponsor site just stops producing? Or, a new site you're promoting just doesn't sell? How about re-directing to another site in the same niche...within the same sponsor's portfolio? That should negate any DMCA problems...shouldn't it?

For some of us with thousands of pages out there...it would be virtually impossible to go back and change the entire ads

There's got to be some latitude here as sponsors do go belly up from time to time.

If it's for the same sponsor, then there shouldn't be any problems. You might wanna ask them, just to be safe, but I doubt they will object.

I think beause your account has be closed with the sponsor. So there is know way for you to promote one of their other sites .

Yep, that's exactly the reasoning why I didn't think the second option would apply to your case Rick69...certainly no dis intended

Re-directing to an fpa 'may' be an option for you though...unless some of the list owners object.

I agree with you...traffic is too hard to come by to send it off to a sponsor that isn't going to pay you.

There's one sponsor that owes me a good chunk of $$$. According to their stats, they sent checks...but I sure never saw em. The sponsor does not respond to mails/messages/phone calls. There was a thread about this sponsor on another board...they stopped paying a LOT of folks. That traffic has got to be re-directed...there's no way I want to send traffic to someone who's plainly ripping off webmasters

rick69 - sorry for ignoring your main question with my 1st post, but the sponsor shutting you downhad me all pissed off - LOL

Best bet is to alter those sites & promote a different sponsor with their own promo material.

Can I ask who the sponsor was? (you can PM it to me if you don't want to say out in the open)
