What do you use to track your search engine listings

I'm sure Linkster, Bill and DD have custom made tools
Is there something like this google keyword ranking tool Nichebot has?
The only problem with Nichebots tool is it filters out most adult and only works on google

http://www.nichebot.com/ranking/

I only use my server stats (Wusage).
I also have an email sent to me every day with how much traffic each domain gets and total traffic. If I see some new domains in the top 5-10 it's usually some new SE listings, then I just go to the stats and check it out.

Stats and Default Google search - are still the best...

There are lots of tools around.. but the best choice is always "what the surfer sees"

For what it does that NicheBot tool is nice..

I actually don't track positions much anymore. It will just drive you crazy after a while, especially after a spam-loving update like this one.

I watch what pages make sales, and work backwards from that to design new work.

But, unlike your standard linklist guy, I'm not trying to make #1 positions. I prefer the stability of having a hundred #11 positions that don't get attacked by my competitors. There are advantages to being less obvious.

There is more than one way to play the SE game.

For the first time in over a year I only have 1 top ten listing under; tijuana whores
I went from #4 under brothels to nowhere
Google hasn't sent a hit to tiajuanawhores.com in the last two days, checked site"tiajuanawhores.com" at google I still have links and free sites listed but google pulled tiajuanawhores.com/index.htm
Thanx Google

I can really see the logic to that
with Tijuana-Tonight I'm working on a different business model. I want them to be members and then upsell them
right now tijuana-tonight has
62 top ten positions
64 top 11 - 40 positions
and 45 listing 41 and over (not counting adult listings)
a tool to track the movement of those 64 (11-40) listings would be nice|rasta|

I also dont use any tools - one problem is that Google tends to look at the better known tools as a violation of their TOS - and if they see certain keywords really hitting their database they have been known to look into it

I use server logs and stats - AWstats is a really good tool for looking at keyword stats and usually your host can install it for you if you're not comfortable doing it

for future planning tools I always use some of the better keyword tools like Overture, Google Adwords Sandbox and http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ that Tommy turned me onto some time back

the only way to keep my sanity these days is to just keep working. Watch what the checks total up to at the end oft he month and keep my fingers crossed.

I've long since given up on outsmarting google, and Dangerdave taught me its better to just keep working smart than to just try and tweak one or two pages for maximum efficiency. Whats top listing this week may be page 14 next week.

Thanx Guys
I was sure there was a safe easier way.
guess I'll stick to AWStates.
I checked my totals today 29% of my traffic is from search engines.
I'll check again in a week or two and see if I'm going up or down

I think this attitude is not that uncommon.. those attracted to Linklists/Freesites over TGP/Galleries are often the type of people who see reliable long-term income as important.

I hope you really don't mind all those #1 spots you swapped the #11's for this month!

Side point.. #11 is a better spot than 8,9,10 imho.

its true, most tools do violate their TOS, but now they have the google api, and tools can be made using that and they allow 1000 queries of their DB per day.... (api.google.com) there may be tools now that do conform to their TOS

IMHO you're better off writing a bot to query the main SERPS rather than using the API... if you use the API you're telling the bastards exactly what you're researching, with the regular SERPS you can come at them from all angles so they don't know all your queries are from the same person.
