getting my head around the mechanics of a site..

Hi,

I've been lurking here and reading the posts for a while so i thought it was time to register and ask a question or 2.

The more I've read the more confused i've become. |shocking|

I've got my domain, I've sorted out hosting and I've bought lots of niche content and I've cleared my dairy for the next 6 months!
I want to start by doing some free sites and maybe an AVS or 2.

So is the following the way forward.

I create a hub for all my sites at:

WWW.ABCDEF.COM/index.html

I then create a series of freesites at

www.abcdef.com/freesites/site1
www.abcdef.com/freesites/site2
www.abcdef.com/freesites/site3
etc.
and place descriptions and links on the Hub page and links to the Hub page on all the sites. I assume that a Hub is like a private TGP and that once i get a surfer in there the only place he can go it to one of my sites.

These sites will have a main page which will give a bit of a tease to whats inside then 2 gallerys of photo's of around 15 pics each

I then create a few AVS sites at

www.abcdef.com/AVS/site1
www.abcdef.com/AVS/site2

etc.

These will be essentially the same as the free sites but with slightly more photo's in the galleries different text, and an additional Join.htm page which links to an avs supplier.

....Sorry this is longer than I expected...

Finally...sponsors...
Each free site gets it's own sponsor with similar content to the galleries. How may banners/buttons/text link should i have on each page?


Does it sound that i am on the correct track?..and does anyone have an example of a similar setup?

should work like this - just make sure to follow the rules of the different linklists you want to submit your freesites to; they may vary a bit.

I agree, everything looked good, but the freesite sentence re: a little tease and galleries sounded vague. Make sure you have a handle on the general format (warning page, main page, gallery pages) and take into account how or if you are going to mirror your freesites to handle recip link tables should you submit to many many lists. A search of "mirror" would probably explain that better than I can in my half awake stupor right now but you are on the right track concept wise of the hub/sites layout

The second post in that thread is a good explanation....the whole thread is good but the 2nd post explains the mirrors and how and why
