If I am sending traffic trying to get the $80 per signup, what if the surfer signs up for a free account and then converts to a paid account at some point? Do I get my 80 bucks? or do I at least get my $1?

ponyman you get both if he joins within the period where $80 is paid out, if he joins in a different pay period you'll get whatever the payout for that timeframe is.
