Need Info: I am helping out one of the Lawyers doing the 2257 case vs. DOJ

Need Info: I am helping out one of the Lawyers doing the 2257 case vs. DOJ

As a favor for Jeffrey Douglas, whom is managing the team of lawyers taking their case to the government over the new 2257 regulations, I am trying to compile a list of websites that have shut down or switched content as a result of the revised 2257 regulations. I also could use the verbiage of their press releases or links to them.

I already have sent in the sites changed or dropped by Topbucks, Siccash, and TCG. I’m sure there are countless others. I also need lists of free sites, TGP, linklists, or any other site affected too.

Please keep the flaming to a minimum. This is a serious thread.

Hi xxxjay,

I don't mean to come off as flaming or anything like that but I'm curious...How is it the FSC plans to use this list?

I assume they're going to use it to try and prove that 2257 is a terrible hardship for adult webmasters. The thing that worries me is, if that's the case, what happens if they use this list of sites in court but fail to win.

I would think it could turn into easy pickings for the DOJ.

Anyway, just my thoughts...however confused and twisted they may be...

Regards,
SF

And consider the programs that never even opened, but were put on ice because of 2257.

You have to cover past, present and future losses.

Not a flame, but simply an observation - if I were DoJ, I'd look at that list and say, "well, see, the regulations are working! Look at all the non-compliant websites that have shut down because they lacked proper documentation for the models. We're saving the nation from potential CP!"

Jay I think I recall APC saying Asian Sex Trip was closing? I think lunarcash.. and
basschick closed her sites down, cant think of anyone else atm.

But it's not just the sponsor programs that have gone out of business, please don't forget to remind them about all the content providers that have gone out of business because of this (does anyone have a list of all content providers that have closed down?) and the substantial amount of $$$ lost and then also the webmasters that have to remove all that content "not compliant", lots and lots and lots of investment money wasted for some of us, loss of revenue on both parties there.

Have any webmaster resource places lost revenue from loss of advertising, i wonder?

Also, what is this about Legend being sued because of releasing a model's docs?
That alone is enough to indicate the sheer volume of income being lost!

And smutferret, and to the rest of you that think being on a list makes you easy pickings, this is not a flame, but seriously, have you ever stopped to consider that at any time, any of the affiliate programmes you are signed up with right now or have in the past could just as easily hand over a 'list' of their affiliates, remember Matrix content and the list of customers handed over to Acacia. Just something to think about, if the DoJ wants to get you, there are many ways to do it and many "lists" that you could already be on merely because you are in the industry.

If there is anything to be paranoid about, it is the direction this country is going and if people really, really, and i mean really care about what is happening here, then they will get off their asses and do something about, do something, do anything, but dont sit at home at your computer scrutinizing every FSC thread and just hoping for the best and secretly breathing a sigh of relief when you hear good news as a result of what the people that aren't sitting on their asses are getting accomplished. It's certainly not my intent to insult anybody, but I just don't understand how people can be so critical of the only group doing something, nobody ever said they were perfect or that they had all the answers, but I dont see anyone else stepping up to the plate...

Come on guys, the bottom line is that this is not a time for the industry to be split up, we may not all be on the same page about things all the time, but look, we have a lot in common starting with loving the idea of having the freedom to work from 'home' or work how we want and make lots of money doing something we enjoy. Don't just sit there and let someone try to take it away from you. Being in this industry does not make you indecent, it doesnt mean that you are godless and it doesnt mean you are not ready to fight the good fight, so why should this be taken away from you?

Please do whatever you can to protect what we have, please don't just sit there and criticize, if you dont like what the FSC is doing, or you have doubts or reservations about their methods, then please feel free to organise another movement, but dont play a waiting game because you are too scared to stand up for your rights. Lost time is never found again.

Sid,

I'm sure I'm on lots and lots of lists. I've been far too vocal over the last several years not to be.

I'm not especially concerned with my being on lists but I didn't feel quite right about adding other people's sites to a list that I didn't understand the implications of being on.

I wasn't taking any pot shots at the FSC or xxxjay, I was curious how the list was to be used. I know some people are worried about the keeping records for 5 to 7 years thingy. It wouldn't be an issue if the revised regs only applied going forward and not back.

Anyway, I'm not especially worried about 2257 but I agree, there are other things going on in this country that are really scary.

Regards,
SF
