![]() Are AVS sales a Deadend?
Once upon a time AVS was the way a new (or restarting) webmaster could get into some fast sales. But it seems to me that things are much different today. Are there Still AVSs worth a webmasters time? How do you make a webpage promoting AVS when they ban words like AVS, websites, and Free ? And the question that is sure to bring out all the owners and their promoters............what AVS actually still pay their webmasters? thanks H |

I make more money from AVS sales than sales to sponsors (or even from my own paysite, but that does not prove much, my paysite is shit). However I mostly push big AVS sites (1000+ pictures) with monthly rebills like this one: http://www.pp5sex.com/lesbians/ and I occasionally use a pseudo-paysite style tour like this: http://www.pp5sex.com/lesbians-2/ so this is not quite the same as the 30 pic quicky AVS site that most people set up.
With the smaller AVS sites I gave up on setting up smaller sites to upsell sponsors, as I found this less time effective than free sites. I still run a few small niche sites that make enough money from sales to make them worthwhile. But these tend to be very specialist niches. |

RE "How do you make a webpage promoting AVS when they ban words like AVS, websites, and Free ?" - Free I never use, as I think it is a deal breaker (if a surfer thinks he is going to get something for free then finds it has to pay, he tends to say "Fuck this, it is a con", but if he was not led to believe it was free he is more likely to pay when the bottom line hits him in the face, IMHO). As to not using the word AVS, look at http://www.pp5sex.com/lesbians/ that manages without telling anyone it is AVS, and it sells OK.

thanks Ecchi for your input! Looks like you might be using an AVS script I use too;-)
so the simple 30 pic sites like my http://18-20.com/sexy/schooluniform/...amplesavs.html Thats not gonna do well in your opinion? but going for the AVS's premium sites submissions - thats something worthy of doing. OK, would you feel ok about sharing which of the AVS's are the best for revenue? thanks again H |

RE: "the simple 30 pic sites like ......Thats not gonna do well in your opinion?" - I found ones on popular niches don't do well, but something as specialised as your "Catholic Schoolgirls" (as opposed to just "Schoolgirls") might do OK. But as I stay clear of the word "Schoolgirls" myself, I cannot say from experience.
And RE: "would you feel ok about sharing which of the AVS's are the best for revenue?" - You appear to have the answer already (when you say "Looks like you might be using an AVS script I use too"). For anyone else, just follow the links to my site, then work through to the AVS signup page! |

The only AVS I still use is SexKey
When I make a free site I duplicate it on another domain and slap on the SexKey script Their LL sends a decent amount of traffic which is great for sponsor upsells inside your members area What I need now is a list of LL's that will list SexKey sites ![]() |

Yep, i'm good doing on my avs sites, using bxdx.com and deluxepass.com. No problems with payments with them. As well as i know from my friends most others big avs systems doing payments on time. And I'd advise to make your avs sites as qualitative mini-paysites to have a good sales ratio.

When I read people talking about the death of AVS, I think the problem is that it has not died, it has changed, and many webmasters have not been able to change with it. I cannot understand why this is. Computing is a continually changing occupation, particularly in respect to the Internet. Most of us started on dial up, and are now on broadband, I doubt if there is much similarity between your first computer and your current one, and anyone who has been in the WM business more than a few years will tell you that the way they design sites now is totally different to the way they designed sites when they started. So why does everyone expect AVS to be the same as it was last century? It is still alive, vibrant, and profitable. It is just that it needs a 2005 approach, not a 1998 approach. And what works today will not work in a couple of years time, it will need a 2007 approach then.

On average I'm still making about $60 per AVS sales. I say that because I haven't ran the numbers recently and a year ago I was doing about $76 per sale.
I think the "Death of AVS" comes from the decline in converting traffic. Years ago you could make a bunch of 30 pic sites and make a good amount of upsells. You could also create good quality sites and make 2 to 10 sales in a day just from the AVS link list. That traffic is no longer there. Yes, I get the occasional site that will pull a few sales from the list but not often. I don't see AVS as a major source of traffic any more but it's still a good source of revenue as it does pay out quite well over time. |

I guess I am /was expecting it to be the same as 1999............From what I recall (on some other boards where several AVS were the theme) I believe the desire for traffic from the links was seen as quid pro quo for us making sites promoting the AVS. I certainly want whats the best use of my one man company's working hours. hence my quest to find out if there were any webmaster friendly AVS's still doing like they were WAY WAY back in 99..... |

RE: "Vibrant? How so ?" - Sorry, bad use of English, I meant "still making good money."
RE: "doing like they were WAY WAY back in 99" - You are in the Internet business, you won't find ANYTHING like it was in 99. RE: "I certainly want whats the best use of my one man company's working hours." I find AVS more profitable, per hour I work on them, than free sites. Although I wish I had thought of dirtyjumbo's idea (mirroring AVS sites as free sites). I think I'll try it when I get back from holiday. |

Someone in this thread mentions "if AVS was dead why would the avs site still be there?", from my own experience I can tell you why they would. The overhead to keep the servers running is minimal. You can leave those running while you work at a plumbers office for a year or so. Your staff and advertising and office rents are the killing loads. So you get rid of them. Meanwhile all looks normal to any surfer coming to your sites; infact from time to time a freak occurance occurs and someone buys something from one of your sponsors and you get a check. Now why not just kill off the servers and be done with it? The answers are taxes and hope. You hope the industry (or the business) will turn around. You hope someone will make an offer to buy your business. You hope you dont have to work at the plumbers next year too. State and Federal Taxes are a funny thing; personal or a business, they got to be paid. But businesses get ALOT more deductions and write offs than an indiviual. So if you can choose between "I buy this and own it" or "the company buys this", you can see where that sort of choice can help you out. So anyway that answers the question: if avs's are dead, why are the avs sites there running like normal. And dont forget to try to contact deluxepass. I am interested in seeing if anyone out there has better luck than my three attemtps. H |
