Luna was asking me last night what Thanksgiving actually was about. I realized that I wasn't really sure, just remember in school being told about how it was started by the pilgrims and native Americans. Guess that was before everyone started killing everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving was the Pilgrims and the "Indians"* coming together for a feast where the Indians brought corn, or as I like to call it, maze. *Indians is the proper term for the time because when Columbus landed in America, he thought he was in India. And wrongly named the Native Americans, Indians. |

So at what point did everyone decide to try to wipe each other out?
The Seminal Indians of Florida have a reservation here in the Everglades. They are the only tribe that never surrendered from what I understand. My friends that enjoy gambling often go to the casino that is run by them on the reservation. |

Happy T-Day all
![]() Jim here is a tidbit for you ![]() In 1817 New York State adopted Thanksgiving Day as an annual custom. By the middle of the 19th century many other states also celebrated a Thanksgiving Day. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln appointed a national day of thanksgiving. Since then each president has issued a Thanksgiving Day proclamation, usually designating the fourth Thursday of each November as the holiday.

Well i'm Indian 1/4 Lakota, Hunkpapa..my Gramma was Full-blood. we are the ones who kicked Custer's ass...and now are forced to live on some of the poorest places in the country.
Pine Ridge The Pilgram and Indian *and yes we call ourselves that, whoever said it's not politically correct never met a real one of us*.. was a good thing..the bad part started past plymouth rock... when it was an issues of "who's land is it anyway".. so without getting into a huge political debate.. this is considered the "National Day of Mouring" for Indians or Native americans.. whichever you prefer.. we certainly are thankful for what Mother Earth has given us, and for the Great spirit to watch over.. so those of you who Celebrate, have a HAPPY.. |
