Back to doing FS in 2007...
I've been away from the FS arena for a few months (yes, I know, not like I had been doing it for years exactly :o)... Things happened over here, started with a war, then some other stuff, sort of threw me off track.
I've spent the last few hours reading this forum to see what changes have been taking place since I last built a FS. I do have some questions following a few threads that I read - 1. I know that LOR has a policy of keeping sites listed forever, but I see that some of the LL's that I used to submit to take sites off after a while. Most of my work is still SEO-oriented, and I would prefer to stay away from LL's that don't keep my link up for the long term. Any idea if there's a list anywhere for the big LL's detailing who leaves sites up and for how long? 2. Any idea about current trends in categories? Categories with a good ratio of traffic to submissions? Thanks! I will probably only be able to do a few FS every now and then, still very much limited in my work hours due to health related reasons, but I do want to get these going.

I don't know of a list of lists, but I do have a handful of sites over six months old, if you want to compare notes... gonna have to be in a couple weeks though, I'm still on vacation.

It is better to watch things then to do them

You can check their individual submit rules, usually they will list how long. Why not just submit to all you can. Even if it isn't permanent, the extra 5 minutes to make a new recip/warning page and the traffic (even though maybe for 1-6 monthes) would definately be worth it. It's nothing you arent going to build the site for anyone, just a couple extra minutes.

And while you're at it you may as well submit to some of the smaller link lists. Not all of them are as small as some would think as far as actual traffic delivery to your site, and some do list you forever. Take a look at them and see how easy it would be for a surfer to find your link. For shameless spam, check my sig ![]()

I don't know how long since you checked on LL rules but the biggest change in the last few months has been LOR's 24 pics minimum and 1200 total rule for pics. I think that if you ask a lot of LL owners how long before a FS is removed you'll get a lot of blank looks! My advice would be just sub to the LL's you want to, both big and small. Most free sites will stick around for a heck of a long time. ![]()

Well, blame my mainstream SEO background (was doing mainstream long before I started adult, and mainstream is still my main focus), but I always look at anything I do in adult through my SEO link exchange filter too. For me this is a link exchange essentially. Both sides aren't equal here, I do realize that I bring in a (usually) non-indexed page with no PR. But, as with all link exchanges I look at the PR a few months down the road (just like I will look at any link trade - I never trade based on current PR alone).
Anyway, don't have time to go into this in length, but this isn't just a traffic trade to me, it's a link exchange. I already give out two links in exchange for one, and my links are from a page with 20 outgoing links on it max, while the ones I get are from pages with hundreds of links. Now, as long as we're talking a link partner that has established pages, and does indeed throw in a lucrative traffic trade, I'm happy with that. But what I don't like as much is link partners that simply take my link off their page after a while. I also don't like exchanging links with LL's that are small, don't bring in the added traffic value and still require two links from a page with few outgoing links in return for one from a page with hundreds of outgoing links. Now, please don't get angry at this post. As I said this must be my mainstream "training" speaking here. And I do most certainly agree with what is always said here, nobody is forcing me to do this - if I think I get screwed by some process, I shouldn't be submitting. Hence, I wish to keep submitting to linklists that either keep my links up forever, and actually add a substantive traffic bonus along with the link exchange. Just my personal choice ![]() Please take my post here in the spirit it is given. This is NOT a rant about LL's and their practices. I am still a cheerful submitter lol, just explaining my own weird preferences in choosing LL's to submit to ![]()
