Get rid of the "Enter Here" on a banner

Many link lists won't accept a site with the word "Enter" anywhere on the site, especially the index page, with the exception being the Enter link to your site. I've seen a lot of sponsor's banners that say "Enter" or "Enter Here" which makes them useless. I use IrfanView as my default image viewer and ran across a neat feature this morning. When viewing a .gif banner with "Enter" on it, you can select "Stop Animation". This stops the .gif banner from going through all the images it's made of. Here's an example:

http://www.best-wet-pussy.com/sample/

The banner on the left is made from three images. It can be stopped at any one of the three. A side benefit is the file size is drastically reduced without any compression. In this example the file size went from 39.3KB to 19.5KB.

Might want to check with sponsor's and make sure it's OK to modify their banner but if it gets your site listed and maybe traffic to them, maybe they won't care.

I don't think they deserve that much credit.

For some sick reason, I'm seeing more banners with Enter on them. Very annoying. I use Fireworks to go in an edit the offending frame(s). I'll either paint it out or change Enter to Click. I don't even attempt to use the same the font.

I don't have any problems with Enter being on banners...except when on the warning page.

Actually, I wasn't aware that some reviewers do decline for the Enter on banners...not on the entry page. But yea, a lot of sponsors like to use that on promo materials.

A good image editor is definitely your friend

It's one of the things that's a pain because I'd rather not take the risk of giving a reviewer an excuse to decline.

I'm another one who edits out the word "Enter" if I think the banner might be worth using.
I sometimes replace it with "Click Here", or maybe "$1 Trial Here" or an "Instant Access".

I haven't tried IrfanView - maybe I should.
At the moment I use the "Print Screen" button, and paste it into photoshop to edit, and then a very handy simple free tool called UnFREEz if I'm going to reanimate it.
If the file size is too big after that I upload it to GifWorks.com and optimize it from there.
Sometimes I switch from PhotoShop to ImageReady to edit/reanimate, but that's rare.

Now then, what about banners that contain those awful spelling/English language mistakes. I leave those ones alone and avoid them.

LOL I've seen some horrendous grammar mistakes on paysite tours. I don't even try to promote a site that can't use proper english. Very unprofessional.

Hey, I found out that trick of stopping animation a little while ago when I found some sponsors banners were just to large for me to use , so I reduced them in PS, and found I could stop the animation as well. I hate the animation, it makes me go buggy. I try to lilmit it on my sites.

As for sponsors who use poor english, either english is not their first language or maybe they are doing it on purpose. Mayhaps some surfers will trust sites that use the same language they do?!

I cannot understand why Enter is so offending on a banner, can someone enlighten me please? On Licker4u's example, two frames of text then an Enter Here. If you click the banner your entering their site, why is it not okay but having Click Here is okay?

You're making it way too complicated. Just open the file in ImageReady, delete the offending frame and you're all set.

I can't believe that I could have been doing it that way all along! I'm such an ass!
Thanks Lemmy!

Enter is a very powerful word/click-pulling tool, as is "Click Here".
On the first page of a freesite the surfer is gong to be looking for the word "Enter" to get to the content, so Link List owners only want to see it in one place, and that's the entry point to to the main page.

Regarding the rest of a freesite, I have used banners with "Enter" on them in the past, but now I don't just in case it causes a refusal - better to be listed with fewer clicks than rejected with none, and I'm led to believe that no "Enter" on those banners will give less clicks.

"Click Here" I avoid sometimes as it may also cause a rejection at some link lists, namely Hoes, and they send lots of traffic. I'm sure there's a debate about "Click Here" versus "Hoes Traffic" but at the moment I'm doing okay when I don't use "Click Here"....I think.

I'm think I made that explanation way too complicated - I seem to do that with a lot of things.

Please don't think you can't use "Click Here" on freesites! As far as I am aware it's only Hoes that doesn't really like seeing it. I'm just playing safe and seeing if it has an impact on sales at all. At the moment I don't think it's made a difference.

There are plenty of more experienced freesite builders and link list owners who would strongly advise you to use "Click Here" wherever possible!
Here's a thread from last November discussing (amongst a few other things) Hoes and "Click Here":
