1and1 Hosting

Anyone use 1and1 hosting?

I build freesites and use 1and1 for hosting and have not had any problems with them, other than not being able to get POP3/SMTP to work, they have excellent Webmail though, I just use that. Hey for 9.99/mo what can I expect?

Anyway they give you this ridiculously high bandwidth limit, I believe they just upped it to 2.5TB. I did some searching and found cases where blogs getting hit by fark.com or whatever got kicked off the shared server for using 40% CPU. I use all static pages so I know I can't be monopolizing the server. They are a big operation so I was thinking someone might have some experience with hosting high-ish (for shared hosting, I'm talking maybe 10k uniques/day) traffic sites on a shared account.

BTW I wasn't born yesterday and know that a 2.5TB limit is bullshit and there is no way I would get away with pushing that much traffic for 9.99/mo. The last time I was doing this thing back in '03 or '04 I paid like 19.99/mo for 20GB of transfer and thought that was a good deal.

For your pop issue, you can try this for mail:
iset pop to mail.yourdomain.com if you havent..... allthough you probably have tried that lol, maybe just me that never read the small print and had to try and fail a gazillion times |badidea|

Edit; and for the bw thing... i have ran pretty heavy hitting sites on dreamhost more than once, they also tell us the 2.5 TB bullshit, but even though that's not the real ammount of bw they would ever allow me on one act, i've never had any problems, even with 15K+ hits/day
