False 2257 pages?

I have noticed that in some submission rules false 2257 pages are absolutely forbidden and could get you blacklisted. What is a false 2257 page? I thought this information was pretty much standard and what benefit would it be for people to fake a 2257 page anyway. I don't understand.

Probably means linking to a paysite or something other than the 2257 info with anchor text which implies that it's a 2257 doc page.

Probably something like what Useless said...

Someone trying to use the link spot for their 2257 information and linking to something else. The information is pretty standard, my guess is an affiliate trying to abuse the LL rules and get an extra link in there.

As for benefits, there aren't any. Unless you like being blacklisted by linklists, getting a bad rep, and probably losing your affiliate account plus any funds owed to you by the sponsor should they get wind of it.

Its also highly unlikely that any surfer would click on that link looking for porn

I think most LL's put that in place because a lot of submitters were spamming up their 2257 pages with ads & banners.

2257 pages should just have the 2257 info on it & maybe a copyright link back to the root of the domain - plain & simple.

Thanks guys, that clears things up. When I was in this business about 10 years ago I built sites for other people and they would have me put in these blind links, I think that was one of the things that made me get out of the business. I love porn and designing sites, but I didn't like misleading the surfers, I know I wouldn't want someone doing that to me. It's good that they've got rules against that sort of thing now.
