Question

a month ago a site and mine agreed to exchange links. since i have no script to check links every couple of weeks i check to see that my link exchanges are still all up. Monday i discovered one of the sites had taken my link down so i write an e-mail asking why and get no response so i take that link of my site. then another site agrees to exchange links so i put up their link and a week later i ask them where my link is and they say they put it on another domain.
Are these common practices by webmasters?

These are not common practices by honest webmasters Or did you make a traffic trade or was it just a link swap if it was a traffic trade yes they would take your link down if you were not send the traffic you both agreed upon. But if it was just a swap that wouldn't be a normal practice

these exchanges were simply link trades for PR purposes. I could not make traffic trades yet since I only get about 100 uniques or so a day to my main site and im not into putting up blind links to get traffic going to other sites as i feel this kind of traffic is worthless I know if i click on a link at a site expecting to see a gallery of pics and get sent to another link site I never go to those sites again.

This is why I do link trades through a traffic script. Just too much work to go around looking to see if trades are still active. Plus if either party wants to end the trade everything is taking care of automatically.

PS: You may want to give your threads a better title then "Question" as people will actually click on it if they have something to say.

If it's someone I don't know I need my link up first before I trade.

I always put the other sight up right away and wait a week before asking about my link if its not up after a week I am a new site so i Know a lot of people with more established sites dont want to trade links but if they do agree and put my link up and then take it down with out notice i find that disturbing.
