Major linklists in Yahoo limbo?
I was listening to the radio show where they had the new CEO from Yahoo and one of the things he was talking about was that sites that contain nothing but a bunch of links to other like sites that all link them back are considered spam on the new Yahoo index. Even sites that had already passed the editorial review in the yahoo directory were not exempt. I’ve been doing some research into it and it seems that there is definitely something going on:
http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=sl...uy+link+o+rama http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=sl...ve+adult+links http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=sl...=smut+gremlins (this one is horrible) http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=sl...jays+xxx+links http://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=sl...p=link+for+sex A few of the LL’s are in there. I’m not trying to be #1 for porn, but it would be nice in Yahoo could at least find me when they search by the name of my site and my linklist has a lot of content in it besides the links. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Well - Id say if that were their plan they failed miserebly - take a look at the top20 for free sex
![]() There is a solution (will PM you tomorrow with details) while we wait - I think it's more a problem with they only have half of their links into the index so far - they are still working to add them but it will take somewhere around a month according to Tim (the guy on the radio show) |

I wonder when Yahoo will stop pulling google listings into it's results? It seems to flip-flop day to day for "certain" terms. Not most of the good terms unfortunately. My site, hoes.com, is nowhere to be seen in the pure Yahoo results, I'm researching the hell out of things to figure out why this would be the case.
One thing is certain... I did paid inclusion for Inktomi over a year ago for several months with little success. When I pulled the paid inclusion, they pulled my listing. And now, it's almost like I'm blacklisted. What a crock of shit if that's the true case. One other observation... have you noticed lots and lots of TGPs getting high rankings in Google lately? What's that all about? marc |

Hmmmmm Right now Im building alot of different Feeder sites. And I want to start making some Free Sites again. I have bought a new domain for all these sites. But I have been thinking, if It would be a better idea to use my LL domain for these sites/pages... What are your thoughts about this?

I'm not interested in the facts, I'm interested in my opinion.

Personally I am quite happy with it. I was finally able to secure the number 1 spot from most of the drbizzaro searches:
dr bizzaro No. 1 drbizzaro No.1 dr bizarro No. 1 drbizarro No. 1 doctor bizarro No.1 doctor bizzaro No.1 I also see that I made the front page for the term "Dr" No. 15 I am finally starting to get back all the traffic that the cybersquatters have been stealing from me for years. P.S. I know I'm not a link list, just adding my $.02. Last edited by Dr Bizzaro; 2004-03-27 at 08:55 AM.. |

DrB - and most importantly - you're up to the third page (around #54) for "sex"

I think yahoo are doing some filtering of results on some adult terms..
Check out how the results for "free sex" and "free porn" are basically identical http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=free+sex http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=free+porn |

Just a hunch - but I think I know what's at stake here.

Maybe Yahoo just isn't finished building their index. I did see that I had over 1000 pages in the index. It just probably hasn't been ranked yet.

Identical serps for "free sex" and "free porn" doesn't seem like an incomplete DB to me...
But I am not disagreeing about Yahoo not being up to date as yet and understand the identical results may mean nothing for the long term too. |

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think NOT!

Well I have no idea what Yahoo are doing... and Link Fab has lost major traffic from there... but all my other domains have picked up 1000;s of hits a day each... it is bizarre... but very nice! |afro|

I think that there are two things at play here:
1 - Yahoo is favoring sites that were already in it's existing listings, and seems to give a little boost in ranking to sites with a listing in their directory 2 - The results seem to be "human eye clean", rather than just the usual google clusterfuck of spam and junk. I have a feeling this may be done by tracking what actually has been clicked in the past, using that data to extract better sites to put near the top. I could be wrong, and I probably am, but there ya go. Alex |

What worked in Google about 2 years ago seems to work very well in Yahoo right now.
I have a site network that I built around that time that has good ranks in Yahoo now. |

According to Tim over at Yahoo - they are about 50% done adding websites to their index - I noticed today some changes to mine where you could actually find the LL by typing in the domain.com query - and they show the other pages on the site as well - which is a change from last week when they never heard of me.
Those listings for the top 20 on most of the money terms like free sex etc. are what were there two years ago before Yahoo started using Google - and I am guessing here - but I think they will probably stay there until the entire index is built and Apr 15th rolls around - when they intend to make a major change. Kezza and swedguy - noticing the same thing here - its been nice - hope it lasts ![]() |

I get the feeling that Y is starting at the bottom and working their way up. They're still using an editor reviewed database for the big terms, like "free porn" (note the descriptions), while they're applying their new algo to the smaller stuff, tuning, tweaking, etc. As they get all the bugs worked out, those big term searches will start to look more like everything else....hopefully.
I think the stuff about recips getting penalized is bunk. Ranking sites well that have a lot of "votes" is a good idea, but how practical is that in the real world. How many of you vote for sites (besides your affiliates ![]()
