Opinions on free/cheap trials/sites?

I've been curious lately--during the year and a half or so I've been doing free sites and galleries, I've had little success getting sign ups for the free or 1-2 dollar trials. Lately, I've tried the Pussy Cash 6 Buck and Discount Mature Pass inexpensive sites with not much better results. I certainly like the rebills I get with my more successful full price sign-ups, but rebills don't generally last too long, and, of course, most don't go past a month for rebills. I'd love to be getting more of those one-shot, $25+ per sign up payouts.

Have those of you who've had good luck with the per sign ups found that you do better with galleries rather than free sites? The other way around? Do you really emphasize the low price, or the benefits of membership? Do some niches tend to be better for that type of sale?

Not asking anyone to give up their best money making secrets, but any advice or observations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I think we just had a thread/poll on this. Use the board search function for those replies.

I'll repeat myself here: they suck!

I actually do really well with free trials or $1 trials. I also do pretty good with the "discount sites" for $6 or $10 or $9.98 or whatever the fad is - LOL

Of course, I think in the end it's how you market the site to the surfer - I'd bet that most of them time, if they plan on signing up, they are getting their CC's out while they click from your site to the sponsor

niether, and thats prolly your problem. you arent supposed to sell the sponsor, you are supposed to sell the fantasy... the tour sells the actual membership. ads that talk about the price or the benefits of membership are far less likely to get clicks because they know you are trying to sell them something. nobody wants to be sold something - they like to buy things that have value to them. you have to build value in the fantasy so they are so turned on that they pay attention to the price sales approach the sponsors tour uses.

value is much more than price - build the value and make them want to buy the fantasy and ill bet you have much more success

Thanks for the response, guys! As is usually the case, different results for different people.

security_man--Yeah, in retrospect I have the most success with the full price paysites I sell because I think they're really good sites, and emphasize the feel and experience of the site rather than the price or number of weekly updates. need to start thinking that way for these others, too. thanks.
b/t/w--austin kicks ass! Mom and sister both live there--love going to visit !
edit--(hmm, thought your bio said austin)

lol its okay dallas or austin... they are both in texas at least

but seriously tho, you are right, when you try to close on price the only thing you can do is talk about how cheep it is... and cheep price with no value is still just price - some might have heard the following analogy by me before but i gotta say it anyway LOL...

when we buy something, be it a pair of underwear or a new car, we all have a set of scales in our head... on one side is the price of the item and on the other is the value. once the value of it outweighs the cost we buy, almost without thinking about it... this is what we normally refer to as a "good deal" - the key to remember is that while the price is a fixed hard number, the value is completely subjective, our only option therefor is to build the value of the membership because they can get the price from anywhere and really dont give a shit about it anyway.

make the product worth more than the price and you will make sales

Yep, in fact when i think back on my days as a porn surfer, i can recall the times that the enticement to a a few sites did such a good job of diverting the flow of blood from my thinking head to my other, funner head, that i pulled out the credit card, knowing full well that i couldn't really afford to be doing this, and said "fuck it, i wanna see what's behind that enter button".

Dallas,eh? I grew up in Garland, then went to SMU (and I still receive alumni contribution requests--I really want to explain to Biff and Buffy that my SMU degree has allowed me to attain the rank of broke pornographer)

Thanks for your post thrill.
Great to c you here.

As far as the perspective of the situation...
Here's my 2 cents if I may.

This is a hard "long term" biz.
You have to do the "pay-per" and "recur"
to stabalize the cash flow and balance sheet.

Yup... as far as the "recur" imho these day's.
Count on 1 in 5 that will stay for 1 month, etc..

Devisify your realm and plan for the long haul.

Thanks, Frank.

Yeah, everytime I start thinking "this kind of site doesn't work for me--I'm gonna pull it", it seems like that's when I get my first sale from that type or that sponsor.

Coincedentally enough, one of the sites I mentioned in my first post, PussyCash, brought me a sign up this afternoon. Not in one of the lower cost brackets either, this was a thirty-two or so dollar per signup. Just as I was thinking "screw this pussycash stuff--never gonna hit the hundred-dollar-cut-me-a-check mark." Have to constantly be reminding myself of the, as you said, long-term nature of this business.
(Plus, the pussycash bonus free chat-cam points helps me remember to think of them as "long-term investments",too )

Hi new here.

I think it can depend on the niche. Sometime more indepth of a niche, and the people will pay about anything to see the content. Other stuff does great with the free and $1 trials.
