Google and Adwords

Hi all,

Just received an email from Google Adwords regarding a campaign that has been running for about a year.

It said that it had been dissapproved as my ads linked to a dialer program in some way... NOT... but when I read the email in full it states the following:

"In the case of dialer programmes, we do not allow:
- Ads with a Destination URL that triggers a dialer
- Ads that link to a website that initializes a dialer after a set amount of time has elapsed
- Ads that link to a website that includes links (webmaster content or advertising content) to dialers"

I specifically chose the "console free" linking option for the sites listed on the destination page and the only way that my ad violated the above terms was in the last statement.

I checked the join pages of the sites listed in my ad and they all have an alternative method of payment... to join by phone/dialer.

How do we stand now with regard to using Adwords to promote adult sites?

I would say that almost every adult site gives the option to pay via phone/dialer on their join page.

Anyone else had this problem or have any thoughts?

Lisa - most adult WMs I know (including myself) that do adwords go to our own FPAs first to avoid that problem - its a recent change they made to really look for the dialer links on the paysite pages


<added - this also allows the ability to send to the console signups if you want a little higher return>

Hi Linkster,

My campaign in question wasn't linked directly to a sponsor site, it was a niche fpa with screenshots and links to various sponsors bbw sites (console free). None of those sites went to any dialer but did have the dialer option on the join page.

I usually do link to an fpa, there are only 2 or 3 of my ads that go directly to a sponsor and those ads haven't been dissaproved.

Anyway, I've emailed Google back to see what's up.

Lisa - although usually we seem to be able to avoid that level of scrutiny - the guideline they are using is in their "Editorial guidelines"

Dialers

Google is dedicated to providing relevant and high-quality ads that contribute to a positive user experience. Therefore we do not permit ads or ads for websites that are associated with dialers in any way

They have recently been enforcing that "websites that are associated" phrase and some people I know have changed sponsors to someone that doesnt have that join option (which for the niche you're working on I can think of two right off the top of my head)

.. the other thing to remember with dialers... is that "you" may not get one.. but surfers from 'other places' might.

I would imagine Google has people all over the world testing links etc. much in the way DMOZ does.

As has been mentioned; It's best to send them to an FPA sponsor/s that will let you turn off dialers.

I think it's time to build more search engine pages and cut down on my financial outgoings.

Heck, if I could get my campaigns to turn up some decent free search results I'd save myself about $500 a week
