Aw, Dad, you've done a lot of great things, but you're a very old man, and old people are useless

search engine question
I have a quick question having to deal with search engines. I am sharing a dedicated server with my cousin, and we were wanting to play the search engine game.
Anyways, it goes like this...we have a total of 16 domains on our server, only 5 unique IPs. Will we be able to get listed in search engines if certain domains have the same IP and if so will we be able to still maximize our SE hits? I contacted ISPrime (our host) about it today, and this is what he said... " Your server has pre-assigned 5 IP's to use at the time of set up. Normally we only assign dedicated IP's to sites had they require it and have proper technical justification (we cannot assign IP's just because a customer wants them and has no reasoning behind it - ARIN does not accept this as properly assigned when we try to get more IP space). To the best of my knowledge a search engine will not delete you just because one site is on the same IP as another (infact most hosting companies now a days use a single IP for everyones site)." From what this guy says it seems SEs wouldnt mind this, but this is simply a tech support guy over at ISPrime which is why I wanted the opinion of you guys as I know some of you over here know how to work the SEs. Keep in mind this isn't going to be spam stuff that gets listed in the SEs, there will be quite a bit of content on each page for the surfer to see. Any help you could lend on this matter would be appreciated. Thanks, Brad |
