I'm using AutoGallery Pro on three of my TGP's. Two other TGP's that I purchased from a friend use Comus Thumbs.

Those are the only two I have first hand experience with. Both have things I like and things I don't.

Do you like one better than the other one?

I prefer AutoGallery Pro, it doesn't have as many features as Comus but it's a bit more flexible.

What are the features you like / dislike about both? Where does the bulk of your gallery submissions come from, other webmasters?

My submissions are about 50% to 60% from submitters and the rest from galleries I build myself or sponsor hosted.

I like the scheduling and automation features of Comus, but I'd like to be able to easily make it skip build cycles (such as on a holiday weekend when the number of submits are way down) I'd also like to be able to rebuild pages without advancing the build cycle so I can test modifications to page templates without using up new galleries each time.

Comus uses a MySQL database, that tracks click stats and other info about each gallery, so you can create some rather complex queries for selecting and sorting galleries. AGP uses a flat file, so you're limited to using predefined catergories for selecting galleries. That means with AGP you can't create a true "Hall of Fame" group of galleries based on user clicks, as that data isn't saved.

Overall, I find AGP is just easier to use. I spend less time getting the job done on my AGP sites.

Cool I appreciate your input.

One more question, what is the difference between TGP and TGP2?

Just to make things more confusing, remember that the makers of AutoGallery Pro also make AutoGallery SQL which eliminates the drawbacks of using flat files for data storage.

The one thing I really dislike about AG SQL (don't know about the Pro version) is not being able to rebuild just one page when I want to do that. Page building is "all pages" or none, which I really wish they'd change to make more like their TGP Rotator scripts, which allow you to build any individual page whenever you want, including via cron jobs.

AGP allows you to build just your main page(s), just your your archive pages, or all pages at once.
