Page name or folder name?
Hi all :-)
When optimising pages for specific keywords, is it best to name the page using the keywords or to name the folder? Eg., www.mydomain.com/ebony-amateurs.htm or www.mydomain.com/ebony-amateurs/index.htm Any ideas on the subject? Cheers, Lisa. |

Hi Surfn,
I'm doing some se pages for different sponsor sites and don't know whether it's best to name the page the same as the site or name the folder the same as the site with the index page within that folder being optimized for that site... |confused| ... I'm not very good at explaining. lol. Like this - www.mydomain.com/gay-sugar-daddy/index.htm or www.mydomain.com/gay-sugar-daddy.htm |

Yep I know nothing loads, I didn't know how to give an example without having a link there.
I've put an index page optimized for a specific site into a folder, naming that folder the site name. I just didn't know if the search engines liked the page name to be keywords or the folder to be keywords. Lisa |

I usually start with the directory & then go from there:
warning - http://www.domain.com/keyword/ main - http://www.domain.com/keywords/another-keyword.html galleries - http://www.domain.com/keywords/yet-another-keyword.html |

Lisa,
You will get differing answers on this.. and it depends on sites structure and page structure, but for the most part the answer is "folder" DD

Thanks guys for your advice
![]() Just to clarify what I meant, here is a real example: The following page is #13 on Yahoo for the keyword term 'free anal sex links'. The keywords are in the page name. http://www.adult-xxx.org/free-anal-sex-links.htm Now, if I had exactly the same page but it was named 'index' and was in a folder named 'free anal sex links', would it have been listed higher in the search results for those keywords. This is just an example, I'm not changing any existing pages/domains, I wanted advice on a new project that I'm working on. Cheers, Lisa Last edited by flyeruk; 2004-04-07 at 04:27 AM.. |

In my experience naming the directory has been more effective than naming just the page. The SE's algo takes into consideration that if the page/directory is named a certain way then it is less likely to be changed that if it is an "index.html" with a title that can be changed anytime.
